Stayed at one of the cottages March 16th. So homey and comfortable. Much thought has been given to the comfort of the guests, from the books and cards, to the movies and games. Very clean and well stocked. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

We were very happy with the friendly service and great touring advice! The cottage is gorgeous and we very much enjoyed our brief stay. We WILL be back!

We were amazed by the quality, cleanliness and comfort of the cottage. It is beautifully decorated and provides everything you need for a pleasant stay. It is located right by the shore - not a swimmer's beach, mind you, but a dreamer's shore with constant wave sounds). We were also pleased at how nice Kathy was! We stayed in 7 different places on this Maritimes trip and this was the nicest. I definitely highly recommend these cottages. Neils Harbour is a small village but there is a COOP grocey store, a good-sized pharmacy, a gas station and a must-visit Chowder House, near the Lighthouse. It is a short or medium drive to several trails in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Well Worth it! Thank you Kathy!

My son, Julien, rented this beautiful cottage for a week in July 2015 and I had the privilege of staying there with him for the second half of his stay. Words fail me to express what a wonderful, impeccably clean cottage this was, exceeding all of my expectations! The view from the back deck was breathtaking, with the ocean at our feet. As well, Kathy had been so helpful to Julien and his friend Mireille, during the first part of my son's stay, recommending great restaurants and treks on secluded paths. The Highlands in Cape Breton are definitely Canada's best kept secret and Back Cove Cottages, the best kept secret of Cape Breton Island!

We picked these cottages from online possibilities. Boy, did we make a good choice ! We ended up with the perfect cabin for us. It was literally right on the rocky shore. We sat on our deck off the livingroom having coffee or an evening snack and just watched the ocean. In the mornings we watched the fishermen checking their lobster pots. One evening we cooked dinner on the grill located on the large deck. Another evening we sat on the chairs right next to the ocean and spent several hours enjoying a fire in the fire pit. We loved the cabin so much that we got take out from the Chowder pot that was 5 minutes away instead of eating in the restaurant ! Their food was very good. The cabin itself was immaculately clean with plenty of room. We had a nice living room where we could sit on the couch and look at the ocean out the sliding glass doors or enjoy the cozy fireplace. There was a spacious eat in kitchen. The two bedrooms were plenty large and roomy. Even the bathroom was perfect. Every thing we could have possibly wanted was provided, and even more ! Both Kathy and her son Ron were as nice as could be. We had booked the cabin for 3 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Our plan is to come back and stay in that exact cabin for a week next time !!!!

My wife Karen and I stayed at back cove cottages in the middle of June of this year (2015). The only unfortunate thing was OUR STAY WAS TOO SHORT!! The place is FANTASTIC, wonderfully peaceful, spectacular oceanfront view, a very clean cabin that seemed to anticipate every need of the guests. From the first day of our three day visit we were trying to figure how to stay longer. Having breakfast on the balcony, sitting on an Adirondack chair in late evening on the lawn watching our campfire, enjoying the atmosphere of the sea and the lighthouse listening to the waves. I cannot say enough about this place.

(From Trip Advisor) I picked this cottage out of the Doers and Dreamers guide, not knowing anything about the people or the cottage. Meeting the owners, Kathy and Darryl along with their son Ron, and our experience in the cottage far surpassed my expectations! I was originally looking for one night accomodation and after speaking to Kathy it quickly turned into three nights. The cottage is absolutely spotless clean! It contained everything (and then some) that we needed for our stay. It is a lovely cottage with a beautiful kitchen, living room, bathroom and two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a deck overlooking the ocean and you can fall asleep to the sounds of the waves splashing on the rocks. Between the living room and kitchen is your front door that has a large deck overlooking the Neil's Harbour lighthouse. Every morning, I sat and had my coffee on the deck watching the fisherman go about their day. It was awesome! If you didn't feel like making lunch or dinner, you could go up to the Chowder House and have soup, sandwiches, fish and chips etc. It was good food too. Neil's Harbour is about 20 minutes from Ingonish and at the most, 45 minutes to Meat Cove (beautiful drive), Cape North, Dingwall, Bay St. Lawrence and Pleasant Bay to mention a few. The local people - what can I say....they were incredible! They are very easy going and laid back with a great sense of humour. Kathy and Darryl offered to get us lobsters from the wharf and cook them up for us. This was a definite bonus and we were happy to take them up on their offer (I just wished we at more lobster!) If you have a chance, maybe drive a little ways down the road to see Dave at the Fisherman's Daughter gift shop. He's quite a funny character! If you are looking for a place to be quiet (this is not a party place) and enjoy the ocean and the quaintness of a working fishing village then maybe this is for you. I look forward to returning there some day - thank you Kathy, Darryl and Ron for a such a fabulous time! It was a pleasure to meet you.

(from TripAdvisor) What a wonderful place to stay! A lovely, clean cottage - with a fantastic view - right on the ocean. Sitting on the deck, drinking coffee, watching the huge waves roll in - it was the highlight of our trip. We only stayed one night but wish it could have been longer - we didn't want to leave. Thank you to Kathy and Darryl!
