(From Trip Advisor) I picked this cottage out of the Doers and Dreamers guide, not knowing anything about the people or the cottage. Meeting the owners, Kathy and Darryl along with their son Ron, and our experience in the cottage far surpassed my expectations! I was originally looking for one night accomodation and after speaking to Kathy it quickly turned into three nights. The cottage is absolutely spotless clean! It contained everything (and then some) that we needed for our stay. It is a lovely cottage with a beautiful kitchen, living room, bathroom and two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a deck overlooking the ocean and you can fall asleep to the sounds of the waves splashing on the rocks. Between the living room and kitchen is your front door that has a large deck overlooking the Neil's Harbour lighthouse. Every morning, I sat and had my coffee on the deck watching the fisherman go about their day. It was awesome! If you didn't feel like making lunch or dinner, you could go up to the Chowder House and have soup, sandwiches, fish and chips etc. It was good food too. Neil's Harbour is about 20 minutes from Ingonish and at the most, 45 minutes to Meat Cove (beautiful drive), Cape North, Dingwall, Bay St. Lawrence and Pleasant Bay to mention a few. The local people - what can I say....they were incredible! They are very easy going and laid back with a great sense of humour. Kathy and Darryl offered to get us lobsters from the wharf and cook them up for us. This was a definite bonus and we were happy to take them up on their offer (I just wished we at more lobster!) If you have a chance, maybe drive a little ways down the road to see Dave at the Fisherman's Daughter gift shop. He's quite a funny character! If you are looking for a place to be quiet (this is not a party place) and enjoy the ocean and the quaintness of a working fishing village then maybe this is for you. I look forward to returning there some day - thank you Kathy, Darryl and Ron for a such a fabulous time! It was a pleasure to meet you.
